Posted by Darren Also, I'm not sure whether the lack of posts on here recently represents the 'lack of scene' that John's talking about, but it certainly has been pretty quiet over the last few months. I do however think it's a real shame that John has decided to throw in the towel, but I totally understand it - nothing stays the same forever and I guess we should be grateful that we have had the Northern Metal Web for 10 years. Be interested to see what other people think. --Previous Message--

I think there still is a northern metal scene, but maybe it's not as cohesive as it once was. Certainly when the Empress was open it felt like there was a real scene that a lot of people were involved in, loads of gigs, gig swaps, a great place to meet etc etc. This certainly doesn't seem to be the case now. Maybe I'm just talking about the Bradford Metal scene and maybe I'm looking at it through rose tinted glasses, but going back 5 or 10 years it really felt like their was a cohesive scene, at least in Bradford, but since the demise of the Empress and now Rio's that seems to have gone tits up.
