Just an initial message about the trip scheduled for Saturday, May 18th. If you have done this trip before, you know what it is all about and how challenging it can be. If you have never done this trip before, be aware that it is NOT a beginners trip. There is a good description of it on the Flatwater Page. Among the usual challenges of tree blowdowns and beaver dams, Worden Pond can be a serious obstacle in a stiff wind. There is a LOT of poison ivy. And while we require at least a change of clothes in a dry bag, either a wetsuit or a dry suit is recommended since there is not a lot of solid, dry land to get out and change your clothes if you need to. The trip length is about 8 miles, but it will feel like more if we have any or all of these challenges.
All that being said, if you are prepared for this trip it is one of the best in the state, passing through some of the least developed land in Rhode Island. Stay tuned on the message board for any updates or cancellations to the trip! -Chuck
