Did the canal/river loop from Ashton to Lonsdale yesterday. I put in on the canal across from the Kelly House and paddled up the canal to cross over to the river just below the Ashton Dam. Water was really moving so the trip down the river only took 25 - 30 minutes. Tubes at the Pratt Dam were pretty much underwater, but water was not flowing over the dam spillway. (Note to self – check the water at the dam before you paddle next time.) It’s a pleasant paddle back up the canal now that the Martin Street bridge construction is complete. Scenery will be better once the trees leaf-in, but still a very nice paddle for those who don’t mind a little easy moving water – and no shuttle.
