I would like to do the Housatonic on Sat. Could you tell me how long it is to Ashley Falls, and how long the trip will be. Tbanks

This is the information on Saturdays trip. There was no interest in Sunday, so the Sunday trip is cancelled. There is currently a mating pair of bald eagles that may be visible at the start of the Trip. Trip is 10 miles of easy flatwater with a slight current. There is one dam that can be portaged or run depending on your skill level. Running dam takes good paddling skills. Portage is short. Very scenic trip. We will meet at the Put in at 10:30 AM and do a shuttle shuttle to the take out. GPS Information Put-in Gps 42º 04’ 12.6” N - 73º 20’ 25.2W Take-out Gps 41º 57’ 50.3” N - 73º 22’ 18.4W Directions (from google.com) from Providence (2.5 hour trip): Note: Since I come from the Westerly RI area I will take a different route. 1. Head north on RI-146 N Entering Massachusetts 15.8 mi 20 mins 2. Continue on RT-146 N/Worcester-Providence Turnpike 18.0 mi 20 mins 3. Slight right (signs for US-20/Boston/I-90/Springfield) 0.4 mi 4. Turn left to merge onto I-90 W/Massachusetts Turnpike/Mass Pike Partial toll road 83.6 mi 1 hour 20 mins 5. Take exit 2 for US-20 Partial toll road 0.6 mi 1 min 6. Turn left at US-20 187 ft 1 min 7. Turn right at RT-102 W 4.6 mi 9 mins 8. Turn left at South St/US-7 Continue to follow US-7 6.6 mi 11 mins 9. Turn left at Main St/US-7 Continue to follow US-7 8.4 mi 12 mins 10. Continue on Ashley Falls Rd/RT-7A S 1.4 mi 3 mins Note: Put in is where 7A crosses the river.
