Hi Bob, A shorter kayak takes more effort to maintain directional control in general and especially in the wind. The paddle will be about 6 miles and we will be out for about 4 hours. The winds are forecast to be 7 to 10 knts - so light to moderate. If you're in good health and have paddled in those conditions without a problem recently you should be ok. Your perimeter bow lines will allow someone to tow you if you start to have trouble so we have that option to fall back on.
You're welcome to come along if that's what you choose to do.
