BVPC is planning an unofficial paddle on Tuesday Aug 30th.
Plan to be on the water at 6:00 for a nice paddle on Stump Pond in Smithfield and then a get together at the Thirsty Beaver Pub nearby.
Woonasquatucket Reservoir is a 300-acre reservoir on the Woonasquatucket River. It is sometimes called Stillwater Reservoir and also Stump Pond from the days, now long past, when there were standing dead trees in the water from when the land was flooded to make the reservoir. There are some houses near the shore, but overall the shoreline is surprisingly natural given its suburban setting.
Rt. 95 to 146 to 116 South/Lincoln Mall exit (from Providence, North Providence or Pawtucket take the Douglas Pike Rt. 7 North and turn left on 116). At the Junction with 104 stay on 116, taking a left and then a quick right. Go past the police station and over the bridge that divides the pond. Immediately before the Dairy Mart and liquor store plaza take a sharp right onto Log Road. Bear right at the yield sign and then turn right into the Stump Pond Fishing Area Access.
