Hi,
I'm sending in my application right now, and I'm very excited about paddling with the club - but I have a quick question. I just moved to Rhode Island and haven't done any river canoeing since I was a kid (20+ years ago).
I live at Ashton Mills and would really like to put in at the spot just north of the dam on the east side of the river - so that I can fish the flat water there above the dam.
I'm a little hesitant about the dam and the water flowing into it though. I'm a strong paddler - but of only intermediate skill - and just want to make sure the dam isn't going to suck me into it. For the last 5 years I've been paddling small lakes in Wisconsin - no dams there...
Am I being silly? I paddle a Sawyer DY Special if that helps in answering the question.
Thanks - and again, I look forward to meeting some of you out on the water.
Doug
