Tides are read at a specific point. They are local. I do the North River trip and use the reading at North River (Gurnet Point). This number is 3 hours early of the High tide at the launch point up river. So an 8:30 at Gurnet means a 11:30 launch in Pembroke to ride the outgoing tide. It also means I better be finishing up by 3:00 at Gurnet or I'll be fighting the tide to the takeout. One of the locals told me about the 3 hour offset paddling to the coast. The 3 hour offset is a constant so if you find the offset for your favorite launch site you can use it with the tide chart most any time. Best Luck, Ron
