Boy, I have to say, there were some real troopers on Sunday's trip through the Great Swamp! Over the 6 hours-plus trip, we all had to deal with 4 beaver dams on the Chipuxet River, sustained 15 to 20 mph winds (gusting to 25 mph at least) and choppy seas on Worden Pond, and 3 or 4 blowdowns to lift over or bypass on the Charles River. This was in addition to the usual navigational difficulties of narrow, winding waterways and abundant poison ivy. But, we had only one swimmer all day. It seemed that, while exhausted, everyone had a fun day. Kudos to Jim Cole for getting us all through it.
2 canoes and about 15 kayaks or more. But I have to say, for this trip, and with the exception of Worden Pond, the canoeists had a far easier time with this natural obstacle course.
