The canal is complteted. They did a great job. I ran the loop back on a warm day this past January when there was a decent flow. However, a few large trees had fallen in and across the width of the river at a few points, which would make it very dangerous to negotiate when there is an appreciable flow. Getting out to portage would be a feat in itself. I wouldn't recommend it without a partner. The trees really need to be cut back to avoid entanglement.
