Few or no obstructions, all obvious and easily missed with little training. Risk to swimmers is slight; self-rescue is easy. So here’s the deal - the put-in at River Island Park is not for beginners. Only paddlers with experience is moving water should paddle this section of the river. Good boat handling and self-rescue skills are required. As an alternative, paddlers who don’t want to put-in at River Island Park can put in at the Manville Dam and paddle only the flat-water section. Thanks and hope to see you tonight.

Hi all - I scouted the trip from River Island Park to Manville last night. The river is currently at about 4 feet and the flow is about 1,500 cfs. This is higher than normal for this time of year and produces fast moving water with lots of small standing waves (around 1 foot). There are also four small drops (1-2 feet) which need to be negotiated. This picture will give you an idea of what the conditions are like:
