Calling all rowers and paddlers! Fort Tabor Park is a historic New Bedford landmark. The perfect place for a family outing, the Park includes a military museum, playground for the children, and snack bar. For those who wish to take in the beautiful vistas of the Bay, the Park offers an extensive beach area, and walking and biking paths along the oceanfront. Come on down and join the fun, while at the same time, helping to preserve Buzzard’s Bay environment and culture. Our club rows whaleboats and is sponsoring a paddling and rowing race on Saturday, July 15 and would like to have lots of participants. I was hoping you might be interested or know of other paddlers, kayakers, or rowers who might be interested. Please spread the word. We are doing the race in conjunction with the Coalition for Buzzards Bay and their Swim and Celebrate the Bay.

Registration for the three-mile race, which will begin and end at beautiful Fort Taber Park in New Bedford, begins at 11:30 AM, the day of the race. To pre-register, visit the Buzzards Bay Rowing Club web site at www.buzzardsbayrowing.org or call 508-961-5955. The entry fee is $20.00 per rower and includes water, juice, fruit and refreshments for rowers at the end of the race. T-shirts will be given to the first 50 registered rowers. Awards will be presented to winners in various categories of craft including kayaks, shells, coxed boats and rowboats.
