Hello, I am hoping someone can answer me this- I recently bought two very pretty little plates stamped WH Grindley, semi porcelain (where the town name usually is) and the steamboat and world logo, it also states 'patent applied for'. It is ivory colored scalloped w/ what look to me like pink wild roses and some gold embossing. The plates match the following item in pattern/look but I can not find out what pattern it is.http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/9365237 Can anyone give me any direction on the pattern it could be and age? Thank you, BO in MN

Hi Beth, Grindley was a wonderful and prolific producer of china. They made alot of flow blue as well as other patterns of dinnerware. Your mark dates between 1880-1914. Usually the pattern name is right above the area where the boat is located, curved above it. Try asking for help from Replacements Ltd. in Greensboro, N.C. They may need a photo but they have a monster of an inventory and will likely be able to at least give you a name. Their site is easy to use and it is possible you may be able to surf it and find the pattern yourself. Good luck!
