I have a large pitcher and on the bottom are the markings Staffordshire on Trent England there is a star with the letter C in the center of it and above this is the word POPPEA which I assume is the pattern there is also the number 12 on the bottom. Does anyone have any information about this piece?

The mark you describe is for a Staffordshire factory known as Grimwade Bros. later they became Grimwades Ltd. - The mark was used between 1886 - 1900 - Poppea is the pattern name - hope this helps - Jackie
