Jan, Thank you for your reply. This plate has no chips. There is some wear within the blue ...and it looks like the yellow color within the rose pattern is a mistake or an overflow???

There is a peice of tape which upon is written:
1897 Fairbury, Nebraska....though we aren't sure of the town name.
It belonged to a family member. They did live in Nebraska prior to 1900.
