Hi Mary:
Well, you are the type of person we all live for! First, it would be a good idea to get pattern and maker names on all pieces. This is usually found on the bottoms of the pieces, which it sounds like you already have discovered on some of your items. Next, note the condition of each piece: are there any cracks, chips, etc. Discoloring is usually not a problem but any major repair work that needs to be done would need to be noted. Next, take photos of everything! As far as selling your items: you can advertise on this website, put items on Ebay. Of course, you could always join the club which would open up opportunities to attend National and Regional conventions and contact members that collect the patterns that you have inherited. What part of the country are you in? It is possible that one of our club members in your area that buys and sells for a living would be able to work with you on selling your items if you do not want to go through the Ebay process. Alot of people that ask questions on this website wonder about value. I would suggest that you look at the articles on this website. George Wells has an excellent article titled "What is it worth" that might be helpful to you.
Which ever way you decide to go in selling, we would love to see pictures of your items and also a list of what you have! Please let me know if we can be of any help to you. Thank you for using the message board for your inquiry and I am sure you will get requests from some of our club members especially if they see what you have to offer.
