"English" Sets never had a cover on a chamber pot - if the set was exported to America or Canada from the UK then a lid was provided but if the set has been purchased from the UK as opposed to exported when new then there would not have been a cover for the chamber pot - it seems we weren't so fussy in the UK and our chamber pots were mainly kept in cupboards known as "Pot Cupboards" or for the poorer families they just went under the bed hence the nick name "Gosunder" ( Goes under the bed !! )
