Existing Encore CX system - To Reset or Not to Reset?

I just purchased a building with an Encore CX system in it. The previous owners said it was working fine when they had the phone company disconnect service. My question is I now need to set it up. Should I reset the entire system and re program from scratch or just change what I need to? I do not have any of the passwords from the previous users.
