14 Percheron and 4 Belgian Mares in WA Feedlot -- headed to slaughter

14 Percheron and 4 Belgian mares - 6 to 8 years old - are in a Washington state feedlot and will soon be shipped to slaughter in Canada. The Columbia Basin Equine Rescue is working to try to place these ladies, which were acquired by the feedlot owner from an Idaho breeding farm that is liquidating its stock. The mares were covered by a TB stallion and may be in foal. The feedlot owner has set a fee of $1,000 for each mare.
