I am in the northeast and went to an auction last weekend. It was mainly amish/mennonite and thier horses sold average, $1500-$3000. That is for the Standardbreds off the track, saddlebreds for driving and draft horses. The riding horse prices were down, selling for average $150-500. However, although dealers were there, the meat man was not, so many low priced horses went to families.
