it can be hard to rescue a horse from auction but when you do and the horse was one that needed weight and love then they trully know it all i have to say from experince is you need to give a rescue horse time to come around and show them lots of love even if they do wrong i have a mare that when she first came from unidilla she would charge you run you over and she pawed like crazy but with time and lots of love she is coming around great now my littlesister can lead her and she is learing to trail without runing off and on a loose bit /rain it is so worth it i also have a nice 7 stall barn and 100+ acers for hay each year so there is all ways anough food to go around and that helps

: The following is an e-mail message I
: sent out to several horse rescue
: e-mail lists today. Please feel free
: to cross post it anywhere.
: -Antoinette
:
: Several weeks back, I suggested to
: the American Horse Defense Fund's
: e-mail list at Topica, that we ought
: to contact organizations and
: individuals who believe there is an
: overpopulation of horses, or in
: "unwanted" horses, and get
: them to substantiate their belief.
:
: I can't remember who still believes
: in those two harmful, damaging,
: horse-killing lies. HSUS is one of
: them. I did a search on
: "overpopulation" &
: "horse" and came up with
: only my own website, other than tons
: of links for pages pertaining to the
: overpopulation of wild horses, which
: is closely tied with the
: overpopulation of domesticated
: horses, and that is,
: "overpopulation" makes a
: handy excuse all around.
:
: Anyway, I'm not saying that the HSUS
: is bad. I'm just saying that I
: cannot, for the life of me,
: understand or comprehend why in the
: world anyone would believe such a
: blatant lie. I mean, the lie comes
: from the AVMA, I believe, or the
: AAEP. I can't remember. I found it
: on Vivian's site ( A Fund for Horses
: dot org) several months ago when I
: was debating those people on the
: AQHA forum. THEIR OWN MEMO says that
: they really have NO IDEA how many
: horses they are talking about when
: they say "unwanted" or
: "overpopulated", because
: they base the number solely upon the
: number of horses slaughtered per
: year!
:
: They come right out and admit the
: whole thing is baseless! How dumb do
: you have to be to still believe the
: lie?
:
: Am I using strong language? YES I
: AM! Am I yelling? No, I'm not. I
: just don't want to use html to
: emphasize my words so that the
: people on digest can read them, too.
: I want as many people to read this
: as possible, because...
:
:
: THE OVERPOPULATION LIE IS KILLING
: HORSES, LITERALLY!!!!!
:
: People, don't you see? This is their
: 'last hurrah'. We've competently and
: completely shot down all their other
: lies- old, sick horses are the ones
: that go to slaughter; the captive
: bolt almost always only requires one
: hit to be effective; slaughterhouses
: are peaceful businesses; etc.
:
: But we continue to shoot ourselves
: in the foot with this rediculous
: lie!
:
: Do YOU still believe there are
: "unwanted" horses and/or
: that there is an overpopulation of
: horses in the U.S.? If so, bring it
: on! I want to hear why. If I'm
: wrong, I'll be the first to admit
: it. If I'm wrong, then there exists
: a true need that my rescue has a
: duty to focus on, to some extent
: (along with other aspects of
: rescue). I will tell you in advance,
: though, that I will refute your
: every point with undisputable
: statistics and economic factors that
: have been historically proven time
: after time, throughout the ages of
: mankind. And I will show everyone
: that you can point to nothing but
: guesses and suppositions, based on
: nothing more than your own misguided
: opinions.
:
:
: I'm ashamed that I didn't find
: several pages in my search,
: disputing this harmful, horrible
: lie. I know that many of you reading
: this right now have your own horse
: rescue websites. Our side needs all
: of you to put up a page on your site
: about the lie regarding
: overpopulation, and point out the
: harmful effect it has on horses
: every day in this country. Because
: as long as slaughter continues,
: these same lying (beeps) are going
: to keep on pointing to it and
: successfully claiming that all those
: horses that are being slaughtered
: are "unwanted" and part of
: our "overpopulation".
:
: WAKE UP PEOPLE, HERE'S A NEWSFLASH:
: Rescues can NEVER take in more
: horses than the foreign diners will
: consume. Even if every single rescue
: in the U.S. could take in 20 horses
: A DAY, the killers would still be
: out there trolling for product to
: supply the slaughterhouses, so they
: could supply foreign diners.
:
: And there would still be horses for
: the nay-sayers to point to and claim
: that they were "unwanted"
: and part of an
: "overpopulation" problem,
: after all, look how many horses the
: rescues take in daily and still,
: horses go to slaughter!
:
:
: And, the worst part is, half of
: those who believe this deadly lie
: are US, OURSELVES! Shooting
: ourselves in the foot, every day,
: while horses go to slaughter because
: of it.
:
: I know that those of you who agree
: with me are in the minority; that's
: just a factor of the lie's success.
: Our fellow rescuers are merely
: uneducated, as are many in the
: general population. Just as we
: exposed the horror of slaughter
: itself on our websites, so must we
: expose the lie that feeds the
: slaughter!
:
: Anyone interested in reading what my
: rescue's website has to say about
: this, below is the link. Scroll down
: to the colored word,
: "overpopulation" in the
: text and click there.

:
: I did contact a couple of people,
: asking them to substantiate their
: belief to me. I think that those of
: us who know the truth ought to be
: helping our colleagues by
: enlightening them. It's for the
: horses.
