Hi everyone!
You guys may know me as MIO on the doll boards. The name is actually my initials...my full name is Maria Ines Ocampo. I was born in Mexico but raised in Texas my entire life. I live in Houston but may possibly move to Virginia this year depending how my boyfriend's mother does over the next few months. I live with my boyfriend Bryan and Jack, my 4 year old black lab/terrier mix dog.
I just turned 31 April 21st and have been collecting dolls for about 6 yrs now. My hobby actually started way back in high school with female action figures and eventually expanded to Barbies after I saw a customized Barbie on eBay. I decided to try customizing and actually handpainted my first dolls with acrylic paints. I eventually began to hand sew for them before finally "borrowing" my mom's sewing machine for several years. I now concentrate on creating corsets and sexy dresses for the Fashion Royalty girls which make up most of my doll collection.
I will be attending the FR convention in Pittsburgh this year which will be my third convention. I have been lucky in getting to meet many of you from the boards and enjoying our shared love of dolls. I thank the Doll Divas moderators for giving me this opportunity to share another exclusive and for the Featured Designer spotlight today. I hope to see many of you again in Pittsburgh!!
