Hello Everyone! I consider it an honor to have the opportunity to be involved with Doll Divas.
My real name is Jon Copeland, but I post as Pink Man Here's picture of yours truly, with my good friend Amy Nardone at last years Fashion Royalty event:
and again on a funfilled vacation in Maui...
Most people in the doll world know me as Pink Man, the repaint artist behind the very oddly named moniker - SeloJ Spa The following Ad, was created for me by the mega talented Matthew J. Powley. Matthew also made the logos, artist feature for my website as well as the banner that's posted here on Doll Divas.
It's funny to me when people say the name SeloJ to me. I'll try to explain it as best I can without being too lengthy -
I was born and raised in Marion, Ohio - a small uneventful rural town. I have two sisters of which, I'm the youngest. My sister Selena and I have always been very close. We concocted our own way of communicating with one another by splitting words up and piecing them together in a way that sounded like some bizarre language. Not to mention the fact that it unnerved our parents and eldest sister Renita. The name 'SeloJ' is pronounced like Sah-Lodge. It's the first three letters in my sister Selena's name and the first two letters of my name Jon. Only my letters are reversed. Some of you might be thinking - What? Please don't worry about it too much, it's just an explanation - When I chose the name for my website, I wanted it to be something meaningful to me.
I'm very family oriented and I've had a lot of enjoyment from being with the love of my life Ron and our four children. Ron and I
Caleb (18 and graduating this year, he's a car fanatic and is going on to college to become a professional machinist)
Chase (17 and a computer whiz kid, he's currently attending adult vocational classes as well as his regular high school classes and working part time at the local grocery store. He's already A plus certified and will have the majority of his Microsoft certification completed by the time he graduates next year)
Tyler (16 and a computer/gaming specialist - . Tyler can tell you all the secrets of the most popular online and console games. Although I always give him an audience when he explains his latest gaming discoveries, I rarely comprehend what he's talking about. I haven't played console games since OddWorld's Abe's Oddysee in the late 90's)
Maggie (15 and yes, she's my baby girl and the only one I have . She's one of the most radiant and audacious people ever. I'll try my best without becoming a pile of mush to explain something that's very personal, but it has the best possible outcome.)
Without giving too much information, Maggie was taken advantage of and became pregnant last June. With her being 14, this was insurmountable and so very painful for all of us to handle. I admit to my share of crying...
Maggie talked with her mother and I, she'd made the decision to have and keep her baby. She's such a strong young lady and is now the very proud mother of Quinton Michael Copeland. Isn't Quinton gorgeous?! Sorry, I'm a very proud Grandpa.
Moving on to doll collecting and repainting, I've had a lot of fun and some great times and have made some life long friends that are integral in my everyday life. The following is a snippet of some of the fun I've had: SeloJ Spa Ezine The SeloJ Spa ezine was so much fun. Although we only completed three issues, I plan to do at least one more before the end of this year. You can find the three Spa ezines via the menu bar at the left of the screen on my website's homepage. http://www.seloj.com/
EMERALD Emerald is the most popular repaint I've ever done. With a persona that's larger than life, she demanded her own My Space page and was recently featured in Fashion Doll Quarterly. She now resides in a very special collection in Minnesota
TAI Tai is my new "IT" girl and the new boss at SeloJ Spa. She was rerooted by the talented Susan Korba. My initial plans were to sell her, but I started having so much fun photographing her after finishing her repaint, that I've decided to keep her - for now... She too, has a My Space page - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=347870081
I've come to enjoy photographing my dolls and Quin of course! I think I enjoy picture taking more than repainting. A favorite place to take pictrues is Quarry Park. I get some great excercise and the backdrops for pictures are great! Quarry Park Quarry Park Photos
The Witching Hour at Doll Divas The Doll Divas Monster Mash of 2007 was phenomenal and I was very proud to have been a part of it. Many doll artists, repainters and clothiers came together to recreate the witches and other characters from Anne Rice's novel The Witching Hour, Lives of the Mayfair Witches. It was loads of fun. We were able to raise a record amount for the charity Toys for Tots. There are even more characters that we will be auctioning during the Doll Divas Birthday bash, so be ready, you won't want to miss them! Here are a couple of the Witching Hour Dolls: Dress by Amy Nardone, repaint by Pink Man
At this point, if you haven't suffered enough information overload, I'll close out by sharing pictures of my favorite holiday along with views of my personal doll collection added in. Christmas means a lot to me and having my family close makes it special. A way to show my appreciation for my family, I spend the month of November decorating my entire house. I hope that I haven't bored all of you and that you've enjoyed this little peek... Christmas at Pink Man's
