Hello! This is the first time that I'm brave enough to share some of my crafts.
I made a table for my dolls.
I hope the instructions are clear and that someone will find them "handy".
What will you need?
One 11 ¼ x 8 ¾ inches unfinished wooden plaque – about 1” thick One can spray paint glossy finish Carpenter/wood glue One 4 ½” high unfinished wooden candlestick (normally they have a brass insert for placing the candle) Flat screwdriver* or similar tool Small piece of sandpaper (optional) Old newspapers Pencil Clean dry cloth ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Carefully, with the flat screwdriver* proceed to remove the brass insert from the unfinished wooden candlestick.
2. Check the wooden plaque and the candlestick for rough areas, if found, smooth down with sandpaper.
3. Place the plaque with the side that you want to be the top of the table, facing down.
4. Take the candlestick (brass insert removed) and place its top on the center of the wooden plaque. You can estimate or use a measuring tape or a ruler to find the center.
5. With the pencil, trace a circle around the top of the candlestick. Remove the candlestick. Now you have the circle on the bottom of your table.
6. Put glue inside the traced circle.
Apply glue on the candlestick top, put some in the hole where the brass insert used to be.
7. Place the top of the candlestick back on the circle that you traced (step5), pressing it against the plaque.
8. Remove excess wet glue with a clean dry cloth or follow the instructions of your glue’s manufacturer.
9. Allow to dry overnight or follow instructions of your glue’s manufacturer.
Once the glue is dried, you can smooth down, with sandpaper, any glue that is lumpy around the “leg” of your table (formerly the candlestick).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Painting
1. Select a well-ventilated area for painting. 2. Use old newspapers for covering the work area. 3. **Paint your table with the spray paint. 4. Apply light coats of paint according to the instruction on the spray can, making sure that you are covering the whole piece. 5. Let dry between coats and after final coating.
**Note: you can use a primer before painting your table. I did not use any.
Now, you have to find chairs or wait for a tutorial on chairs!
NOTE: I used Cherry Wood Tone #756 Glossy Stain from “Design Master” and a clipped corner plaque.
