The Cameraman (1928 - Buster Keaton film accompanied on the Mighty Wurlitzer by Walt Strony. Known as one of America’s premiere concert and theater organists, Walt Strony has performed at seven Plaza Classic Film Festivals. It was amazing and hilarious!!!
"The Mighty Wurlitzer Balaban III Organ remains the only one of the six ever made left intact and one of a handful of theater organs in the United States installed in its original location."
Hear 30 seconds of our Mighty Wurlitzer (Phantom of the Opera) - it looks like this was before a play.
This YouTube video shows a Mighty Wurlitzer (not the one in El Paso) and claims it is the last one but that cannot be true since we have one here. Ours is the same organ that was in the theater originally.
This YouTube video shows the amazing Plaza Theater after its 38 million dollar restoration.
If anyone wants to read more about the Festival, here is the link. 90+ films over 12 days. This is the 11th year and it is soooo much fun. There are film talks and guest appearances. There are many free movies and those that charge are from $4 - $8 unless there is a guest appearance and then you pay $10.
