POLICE are investigating the suspicious death of a British nuclear expert involved in negotiations with Iran.
Timothy Hampton, 47, was found at the bottom of a stairwell in the Vienna International Centre, the United Nations headquarters in the Austrian capital.
He is believed to have died instantly after falling 150ft from the 17th floor.
Investigators are believed to be looking for links with the death of another UN employee in a fall at the building earlier this year.
Mr Hampton, a member of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organisation, was involved in talks with Iran over its nuclear programme.
UN spokeswoman Anne Thomas said: “I can confirm that a male staff member of the CTBTO was found dead at the bottom of a stairwell in the centre’s E Building. Police are investigating."
