Gentlemen
The Guardian's report of Gordon Brown's speech to the Knesset ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jul/21/israelandthepalestinians.iran1 ) refers in its headline to a nuclear threat by Iran, without distancing quotes. The first paragraph of the story mentions a threat to destroy Israel and plans to develop nuclear weapons, again without distancing quotes.
President Ahmadinejad's supposed threat is open to more than one interpretation, as pointed out by the Guardian's own Jonathan Freedland ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/jul/21/gordonbrown.israelandthepalestinians ) among others. Also, as far as I am aware, the IAEA and the US intelligence services are both of the opinion that Israel is still the only country in the Middle East with nuclear weapons.
Given that the drum for war with Iran is being beaten by the same people who brought us Operation Iraqi Freedom, which your newspaper has always found at least mildly regrettable, don't you think a little more nuance might be required?
Regards
