Dear Steve, |
It is well worth reading Dave Ewing's comments on KZ1300.com regarding compression checks, particularly with regard to bikes that have not been used for a long time. It might be that the rings are partially stuck.
: Been working on my Z1300 Turbo which was
: smoking when I got it, had the turbo into
: the Turbo shop and they checked and said
: it's been pushing in too much oil, they
: cleaned it up fitted a new ring on the
: exhaust end as all was well on the other
: end, fitted it back to bike but still
: smoking! did a compression check, results
: 110psi (1,2,3) 130psi(4) 95psi (5) 70psi(6)
: checked Valve clearances and they seem tight
: Exhaust 1 (.10mm) 2 (.15mm) 3,4+5 (.20mm) 6
: (.15mm) INLET 1,2,4 + 6 (.10mm) 3+5 (.05mm)
: also bike has been stood a long time too!
: CCT has been modded and also has hydraulic
: clutch conversion, any ideas people?? I was
: thinking may valve clearances need doing to
: bring the PSi up and maybe valve stem oil
: seals replacing?? hopefully not a bore
