Andy,
Motorcycle oil is totally different to car oil and has many additives in it for the WET multi plate clutch.
If you leave a bike for prolonged periods, the clutch plates often stick together.
Start your engine and let it run until full running temp (abouit 15 mins).
Next pull the clutch in, and make sure your FRONT brake is fully applied and take the revs upto about 3000 revs, then quickly press into first gear keeping the clutch fully in.
Dont worry if it makes a bit of a "clunk" thats just the plates separating.
Give the bike a good run (as if you need an excuse!!!).
This is common to most wet clutch bikes.
