Thanks for all the information. I'll be trying the ZZR1100 part with a reduced spring.

: You only tighten the bolt FINGER tight so
: tensioner is resting on the guide, not tight
: up against it.
:
: Under normal running conditions, you will
: adjust every 5000 miles or so.
:
: The problem is with a manual adjuster, if
: you forget to adjust, you will one day open
: the throttle and risk the chain jumping a
: link or 2 and bending valves.
:
: For 100% safety and security, use a spring
: loaded ZZR1100 tensioner with the shortened
: spring, then you can fit it and forget it.

: hi folks, this might seem like a daft
: question,if a manual one is fitted how
: exactly do you know how much tension to put
: on it,obviously you dont tighten it up like
: a bolt, would you just keep winding the
: spanner very gently until the last bit of
: slack has just and just gone.?

: Steve, for your info the cylinder head has
: to
: come off to replace that nylon wheel .
: Looks like I'll be cutting 10mm off the ZZR
: CCT spring when it all goes back together
: then, thanks for that info Pete.

: Hi Pete whats a hill ,i don't think
: theres
: any of them here in Norfolk...
: On a more serious note i have been following
: the CCT issues on here and other Websites
: and have a Manual CCT sitting on the bench
: ready to be fitted over the winter, don't
: want the cam chain jumping just before i hit
: the majic 100.000 miles. Its just a simple
: locknut type jobbie similar to the APE one.
