This is the state of my tensioner wheel after aprox. 20,000 miles with a ZZR1100 tensioner, think I'll be going to a manual tensioner next.

: Don't use a new Z1300 one as it's the same
: poor design. It fails because of it's
: design and not due to wear and tear.
:
: I have read the ZZR1100 spring is too strong
: but I have this fitted. I have not checked
: the idler wheel since so it may well be
: dissappearing rapidly. It's been in for a
: few years now though.
:
: The only other alternative I am aware of is
: a mechanical tensioner (AKA A.P.E.
: Tensioner). This is effictivly a manually
: adjusted tensioner where you tighten a bolt
: down on to the tensioner and then set it
: with a lock nut. The advantagbe with this
: is that it is highly unlinkely to fail but
: the dissadvantage is that you have to
: re-tension it religiously at regular
: intervals.
