Hi Phil
I might one day when I'm flush. The 1300 carb was 120bhp given they are quite old and have some wear I would imagine most only make 90 now. Given I've new barrels and pistons producing a capacity of 1440cc, my head has been reworked to be spot on and the shimming been done I would image I'm probably pushing back at the 120bhp mark. Who knows maybe a little more. I have a dyna jet kit to put on this winter which should give me a little more. It would have been interesting to have a before the work and after dyna figure. I know before the work the standard clutch was okay and after it slipped like buggary so I gained something somewhere. lol.

: Dread have you thought about bunging the 13 on
: the dyno to see what it's putting out? It'd
: be interesting to see what the 1440 kit
: produces & they'll also stick a probe up
: your exhaust pipe (ooer missus) & from
: that give you pointers on how to get the
: fuelling spot-on if it isn't already

: Hi Pete
: Dave's has something called a T boost but I
: forgot it was there and never flipped the
: switch. Dave said it is the same as your Z
: boost and he comfirms the ride would have
: been more to what I'm used to and less work
: if I'd flipped it with the power being there
: from the bottom end.
:
: I have intended all year to find a road
: where Dave and I can make a video of the 2
: of us doing a drag race and also filming the
: two passing in opposite directions at 150
: (combined 300mph) But somehow the year has
: flown by and it never seemed as important as
: other things. I've always wanted to know
: could he really leave me whenever he wanted
: and if he could why he never has done so
: yet. (Maybe he's just a great mate who
: doesn't want to spoil my bike for me who
: knows?)
:
: As for meeting up next year of course I'm
: all for trying to keep the site and the
: freinds we've all made together...and
: remember to me every set of lights is a
: race...Lol.
:
: Dave may have done Stage 2 on his Max (the
: one you saw at squires) Stage 2 is the
: wheels and front end conversion.
:
: Not looking forward to stage 3, for this he
: wants to take the engine out and have it
: bored to some stupid cc. Then for sure I'll
: be left behind.
:
: Looking forward to seeing your next
: creation.

: Dread,
:
: Interesting.
:
: Your mates VMAX obviously does not have the
: £30, Z BOOST Ignition Upgrade fitted (takes
: 10 minutes to fit) as if it had, I can
: assure you, you would not have been dropping
: gears or having to rev it, you would have
: found yourself lying on your back in the
: middle of the road, wondering what the hell
: happened.
:
: You see the VMAX has V Boost as standard,
: which arrives at 6000rpm giving the full
: 145bhp. The Z BOOST allows you to switch
: between the 145bhp arriving at 6000rpm, or
: 3000rpm or even better………….all the time.
: With it in “all the time” setting, you would
: struggle to keep the front wheel on the
: ground until 4th gear, whilst the rear wheel
: spins until 3rd gear. The only pain you
: would have in the arse, is trying to wrap
: yourself around the seat with your butt
: cheeks.
: I can assure you after owning more Z1300’s
: than I can remember, and now onto my 4th
: VMAX, there is not a standard Z1300 anywhere
: that will get past a VMAX with Z BOOST to
: top speed which is around 145mph…………period
: !!
: I say this despite preferring the Z1300 as a
: bike to own for numerous reasons.
: Also for a very small investment, you can
: easily make any VMAX 200bhp without loosing
: reliability or stressing the motor.
:
: In the handling department, the Z1300 is a
: huge size (which I love) and weight, but can
: be made a lot better mannered and confident
: by choosing the correct tyres, fork brace,
: progressive springs and good rear shocks,
: but even then, it does not take a lot to
: make it wobble during cornering. The
: standard brakes are not worth talking about.
: The VMAX is only the width of a twin so very
: nimble but is very poor on cornering due to
: odd sized wheels and a standard rear tyre
: that resembles a balloon. However it does
: have a very low centre of gravity, and the
: brakes are a lot more effective.
: What is good about it is for £300, you can
: fit R1, 4 pot calipers, 17 inch wheels with
: wider 170 & 120 section low profile
: tyres, a braced swinging arm and progressive
: springs, which will make it corner 90%
: better.
:
: All in all they are 2 completely different
: bikes, one made for long distance touring
: and one for awesome straight line
: acceleration, and they both do their jobs
: comfortably.
:
: Once I have my current project finished next
: year, it would be very interesting to meet
: and put the bikes side by side from a stand
: still start and upto 145mph……….and let them
: speak for themselves ????

: I rode my mates full power Max at the
: weekend
: and the power delivery is very different. On
: my 13 you twist the throtttle in top at any
: speed and the 13 pulls and pulls the Max you
: have to find the power by going down the
: box. I found it a pain in the ass after
: years of having so much low down grunt.
: Having said that the Max is as quick as my
: 13 if not more so. (mines a 1440)
:
: When we ride I often leave him and can now
: explian this by the catching himing out with
: my instant power on hand. My mate has always
: joked he never has to try to stay with me
: and could leave me whenever he wanted.
: Having rode it I now doubt it.
:
: The handling was very different as well, not
: saying it was bad or anything but very
: different from our bikes.
:
: The main disappointment to me about Max's is
: they all tend to look the same when
: modified. So many parts are available out of
: catalogues that people seem to have lost
: imagination with them.
:
: I should add I love Max's and if I didn't
: already have the best bike ever made I might
: have gone for a Max myself.

: That should be interesting. You've had one
: before haven't you? What is the power/torque
: delivery like compared to the Kawasaki 1300?

: Owners,
:
: Been offered an interesting Vmax project
: bike that only need cosmetic work to finish
: off, so given into temptation and bought it.
:
: Obviously still watching this site and
: helping where possible.
