Gasket rebuild but first a battery

Goping to strip my kz1300 engine down in a few weeks as it has an oil leak on the base gasket !!Rides superb but had a very flat battery today...maybe I left the lights on or something...anyhow, should I need a new battery, any recommendations ( and correct type please )...I usually use a Yuasa but open to suggestions.
