I'd do it.
I toured Ireland no problems, I rode to Holland (Okay found battery to be knackered but otherwise no problems.)
I wouldn't hesitate to do 1000 miles. If it runs okay to start with just do it.
Did you know the fastest circumnavigation was done on a Z1300 and to this day it's not been beaten.
