Used bike guide did state it as 120mph but I spoke with the editor saying the tester must not have realised it had a 5th gear and they upped it to 135mph.
Before I went to 1440cc mine hit 150 on the clock however since then I've found my clock to be about 10 mph out so it was a true 140mph I recon it would have gone more but my wife was on the back at the time and the kidney punches were starting to hurt so I eased off.
I have heard all sorts of stories but I recon the average top speed for a 13 would be 140-145mph. Some may do more some may do less.
I know it doesn't give you a conclusive answer but it's probably the most accurate and honest you'll get.
I might fit a cam on mine and do a run then post it so people can see. Need to find a private road first though as I don't want to be traced and banned for breaking any laws.
I did once gave a ride to a street racer (Car's) he got off shaking saying he was watching the clocks and was amazed that the clock he was watching was the speedo, he said it went up so quick he thought it was the rev counter. All talk of his car being quicker than my bike then stopped. So even today 30 years on they pull impresive numbers.
