Darren,
If you have a 1985 registered carb model then it is almost certainly an A5 model.
Check frame/chassis number on this site.
Seat is pretty much the same across all models.
Switch gear. Need to be aware some USA models had throttle cables coming out of the BOTTOM of the switch gear due to high handlebars whilst UK models cable came out of the TOP. USA throttle cables obviously longer as a result.
Stop switches are the same across models, but you are better off using INLINE FLUID type switches made by HEL as they cost less and last forever.
Ignition locks the same across all models.
Hope that helps?

: Welcome to the fold mate !!!!
:
: The Z1300 (carb model) was sold in the UK
: and most of Europe named as the Z 1300.
: It was sold in the USA and countries around
: there as the KZ 1300.
: The last parts of the model reference from
: A1 to A5 were excatly the same.
: A1 was the first 1979 model
: A2 1980
: A3 1981
: A4 1982
: A5 1983.
: You will find some overlap of models into
: the following year on occasion as some bike
: stood in dealers showrooms for quite
: sometime without being sold. There are also
: some cosmetic and mechanical differences in
: the models.
:
: A1 & A2 very similar in most ways
: mechanically and cosmetically.
: A3 different ignition system and
: cosmetically upgraded to chrome engine
: casings
: A4 & A5. different ignition system again
: with slightly upgraded cosmetics.
:
: The USA models did have some cosmetic
: differences to the UK models such as higher
: handlebars, switch gear and throttle cables
: and some had emission control valves fitted
: which were not essential, but were 99% the
: same as UK spec.
:
: Hope that helps?
