I have painted over 10 engines with smooth silver hammerite and never used primer.
Hammerite is a BARE METAL paint.
They only recommend primer for metals that rust.
I know this stuff very well.........just look where it is made.......PRUDHOE.......thats where I live !!!!
The factory is 1 mile from me.
