chain slap

Hello all.
I've recently fired the old girl up since the winter break and was a tad concerned to hear what appears to be chain slap (cam) coming from the engine. The bike has had the cam chain mod done and I can't understand why it should just suddenly start now? The bike really needs setting up on the dyno as the idleing is erratic so could it just be a balance problem or something much more sinister?
