The field is pretty much set. So here yall go. First I just want to thank Smoke, JW, George Colman, Moe and everybody who has been so helpfull to me and my wife. Thanks to the cooperation of the heads of Ely, DMV, all the teams who have entered and My 8 month pregnant wife (Big Up!) The 1st annuall Air-It-Out tournament is set and ready to step out into the flag world. If you are not playing and want to come join us this weekend you are invited to come see some of the best teams in the world play 8 on 8 flag football. There will be food and drinks and some shade for everyone. This one will be good and the next one will be great with a B division added. Lets get to it.
Team Names
Evens and Odds (Silver Spring, MD) - An “A” caliber “B” team that is on the rise and is ready to go all in for the money. They have won the “Gimmie the Loot Tourney” in the past.
Team Cava (Rockville, MD) - New to the tournament seen and loaded with successful college players. What they lack in tournament play, could easily be made up with athletic experience.
The Juggernauts (Gaithersburg, MD) - A team with mixed experience and good leadership. This team is physical and has a defensive mind set that should give offenses a headache trying to figure out how to cross the goal line.
Thawdy’s (DMV) - This team may have a new name, but the motives are still the same. That is to outsmart opponents with their experience and to wear them down with their physical play. Look for this team to make some noise and hopefully explain what their team name means.
The Gladiators (Germantown, MD) - One of the best teams in upper Montgomery County. This team will have to make a slight adjustment from 7 man to 8 man. With its leadership of their crafty QB and good speed and size at all other positions it shouldn’t be too hard. They will be looking to make a name for themselves throughout the rest of the DMV.
Falcons (Gaithersburg, MD) – Even without Mike Vick these falcons can still move the ball. With a good group of receivers and strong arm QB this team should be able to fly up and down the field with ease.
Hurricanes (Gaithersburg, MD) – Another top team in Montgomery County. This is a very well coached team with playmakers at every position. With a core of players that have been at the top of their game for the past ten years, teams should strengthen their levees or the flood gates could open.
Team Jordan (Gaithersburg, MD) – A group of young ball players who have played together since they were little. Speed, team dicipline and I guess a sponsorship from MJ, means this team is only thinking about one thing. Championship’s. They will be led by their skilled QB and a MD state interception record holder playing their safety spot. Jumpman aint got nothing on Team Jordan.
Vipers (Frederick, MD) – Don’t let the looks fool you. This team has poise. They are led by their strong armed QB and skilled receivers. Timely play calling and a good pass rush keeps this team balanced. This team could be venomous to the opposition.
HUH (DC) – This team has two top tier coaches with decades of experience. Their team is now led by an up and coming QB who is trying to prove himself to his team and the nation. When it comes down to it they will have to rely on their defense. HUH doesn’t stand for HUH!!! If you don’t know where they rep, their physical play might show you the way. Howard University Hospital has put their hat in for the bounty.
Brothers AC (DC) – They are entering another top team from the east coast. Not only is this team good on the field, but are mentors off the field who have been giving back to the community for over 55 yrs. They are in a rebuilding period that is almost over. With some serious speed on defense, it should be hard for teams to go deep on them. The “AC” don’t stand for air conditioning, but if you think your hot they will cool you off!
Elite (DC) – A veteran team that is family oriented. They have won big tournaments in the past and have dominated on the ATL circut. Their offense is more complex than most. Filled with well thought out plays that tend to trick/confuse defenses. They have two talented young receivers who play good even when the pressure is on. They are well balanced with a good rush and pass coverage. If teams dont come to compete they will sure find out why this team calls them self Elite.
1st and the 15th (Gaithersburg, MD) - A new band of brothers with a spinkle of vanilla. I think they already win with the most original name. These cats know the game of football. Not much experience with 8 man, but have play makers all over the field. With a hard nosed demeanor and football experience, they should give teams trouble. Hell their name says it all. They tryin to get paid like its the 1st and the 15th.
Hi Rollers (Germantown, MD) – A team with some experience who, has been competing in flag football for a couple of years. They are lead by their quarterback who has a strong arm and can run. They bring a physical defense and a good group of db’s. If they play like the Hi Rollers and not the High Rollers they should be able to make some noise.
DC Dolphins (DC)- An A team that has a long history of winning. This franchise is coached by one of the best. They are currently going through a rebuilding stage as well, where they have a young QB who is making big strides every week since the Metro Cup. With a physical presence and big play capability this team has a great chance to get back on to the top. This team will be hard to figure out. The dolphins are the smartest team in the tourney.
All Met (DC) – Might as well save the best for last. This team will be ranked number one in this first annual AIR-IT-OUT tournament. You can pick your poison when it comes to All Met. Good coaching, experience, talent, depth and special teams gives this team their winning swag. They are on top because they have earned this spot. Winning tournament after tournament all over the nation. Being on top is not an easy place to be though. Just ask Tiger Woods. But, like Tiger even the field wins once inna while. Especially, when that money is on the line. All Met gets up for the big one’s but, there hasn’t been to many tournaments with a purse as big as this one. They have played on an All Met level for some time now and I don’t see them taking their foot off the gas.
Dominion – Still up in the air!
Bengals - Its a 20 dollar investment with a 600 dollar return. Or you can by power ball tickets and see what that do ;) jk
I know I dont need to ask this cuz yall are so great at giving it anyway, but I'd like to ask if you have any comments or advice I would be glad to hear them.
Thanks again Mike Brown.
