The track conditions for practice and early racing on Saturday morning were tragic. To put it in perspective, we went through an entire 55gal water barrel to clean the bike from practice and just one moto before needing to refill the barrel.
I applaud the track crew for working the track several times to get it into a condition suitable for racing. By the end of the first round of morning motos, it was finally race worthy. I really came for a full day of racing, not a half day.
Occasionally, mother nature will dump rain on us and make for muddy day. I get that. The unbearable conditions Saturday could have easily been mitigated on Friday. What bothers me most is that this behavior pattern keeps repeating at Sleepy Hollow. I have grown tired of it. I am sad to say that I am not planning to return to Sleepy until I hear from other riders that this has changed. My first race was at Sleepy around 35 years ago, and my sons first race was at Sleepy too. This breaks my heart. With many other places to race at, I will be attending events at the tracks whose actions speak louder than words.
