Re: Anyone Raced Ramblers this season ??
Rough and rutted is preferred of course, especially in turns, but when you cut 12" deep on friday and then add 2" of overnight rain, all is does is make 12" of mud. This sucks why you know full well that the staff KNEW it was going to rain. when the pegs drag on the straightaways, it's way too deep. Jump faces need to be semi smooth, not deeply rutted. Went to Ramblers this morning and walked the track. All they were doing for over an hour was dragging sloppy mud off the track with bobcats and they still had a long way to go. Decided not to wait and went home to get the new yz125 set up for suspension testing tomorrow at TMX. Not counting bad weather, Ramblers has had a great combo of depth, moisture, and consistency over the 8 years my son has raced. They usually use a rototiller which gets the clay to a really nice loamy texture through the mid part of the day. This is my son's favorite track. Even when it's only 75% of regular, it is still very good. Agree with 99 on the danger aspect. this sport is dangerous enough already on a GOOD day, exercise a little smarts when it comes to prep. You cannot prep a track for pro level conditions to keep the 3 or 4 A-class riders happy. then you have a couple hundred angry people.
