Transponders: There are many varieties at the moment. The off road world uses a small sticker that is magnetized, like what is on a CD jewel case at the local Best buy. Good for many events and only $5. Very accurate, as this is the primary form of scoring at almost all off road events that I have attended this year. I think the Xtreme MX series in NY/NJ uses a similar design as offroad, but it is their own and seemed to be reasonable to any promoter. There are proven ways that are cheaper, but nothing is foolproof. Just look what happened at St. Louis SX this year.
