I used to live in Benenden from 1970 to 1979 and worked at Fuggle's Garage. The history of which I know nothing more than that. Except the garage was redeveloped into cottages which are still in existence today. The garage was on the west corner of the village green and main street.
My favourite times were when it was a warm summer's day and Benenden Cricket club were playing at home on a Sunday. I would buy a bottle of wine from the King William fourth pub, get a deckchair and sit on the village green dozing to the sound of leather on willow and the occasional garage bell when someone drove in for petrol!
I am researching my Unicume family tree (Cranbrook) and have seen the name Fuggle crop up in all sorts of places.
