Hawkhurst - World War II Evacuees

My grandmother was evacuated from London to Hawkhurst during WW2. I would like to find out as much as I can and have contacted numerous societies to help me find records.

My grandmother says she stayed in "the house on the moor" with a "lord and lady" (or at least they seemed like that!) Cochrane and a Miss Lawford was their servant. If anyone can help me find out ANYTHING about this I would be so grateful as I would like to bring her down to Hawkhurst and would like to show her the old house and also have a bit more knowledge on what happened to the family she stayed with.
