How about the 'Seargent Major' the local window cleaner, strapped his ladders to his pushbike or marched about with them on his shoulder, and Mr Parker who owned a shop on the hill at Hartley (the shop was on small wheels, to aviod paying tax I think), his son sold vegetables from a trailer attached to his pushbike? The gypsie who used to sell shaved wooden flowers, door to door every year without fail. I must stop.

I rarely visit Cranbrook these days but I attended the primary school between 1957 - 61.
Yes I do remember Mrs Bottle, as kids we used to refer to 'Betie's sweetshop', wagonwheels seemed much larger then, and I think I remember 'Bumble', the name rings a bell, can't picture him though, getting old myself.
