I can trace my family connections with the church back to the end of the 19th Century when Bert Holmans and Florence Santer were married there in 1898. His sons - my father Edward and Herbert were married there; my brother and sisters were christened and confirmed there and now the ashes of my parents were buried in the churchyard, long after it was closed to routine burials. My grandfather was killed at Galipoli and so his name appears on the Great War memorial tablet by the chancel steps. I therefore consider that my family heritage is important and proposals by the vicar to 'reconfigure' the interior should not be allowed to proceed because St Dunstan's represents the continuous past whereas the present incumbent is, in the words of the Prayer for the Whole State of Christ's Church, transitory
