If those shelves measure 15" by 36" inches and are rater at three pounds per lineal inch, then that "lineal inch" probably relates to the 36" measurement, so their total weight-bearing capacity would be 36 * 3 or 180 pounds. They would be capable of holding 0.20 pounds per square inch on average over the whole shelving unit, but that's probably meaningless since individual squares could probably handle much more weight themselves.
