OT-Finally Home...

Before I went MIA- I posted about trying to get my horse back. Well after 6months, I am HAPPY ( to say the least) to finally announce, he is HOME! We offered the people months ago money & they refused to take it. Well the neighbor ended up with my horse & placed him on Craigslist. I have been watching Craigslist like a hawk since we found him. I had a feeling that is where my boy would end up, why I dunno?

Anyhow, he is way underweight, today he weighed 910lbs & at 15.3hands that is just unacceptable. With more weight & lots of love, I am hoping he turns out to be the horse I know he can be!

A very MUCH needed hug...

Three generations & a 2nd generation horse ( he is the son of my mare Paint whom we had to put down due to cushings disease)..

And lastly, this is Apache & my mom the day before he was sold 3yrs ago. He was supposed to be going to a scout at Disney whom was going to use him as a lead horse. He lied & sold him, instead of offering him back to us. Apache was sold only because we had 3 horses at the time & didn't need another horse, plus we really didn't have time 3yrs ago to put the miles a freshly trained horse needed. I was pregnant & my mom needed neck surgery. Getting him back has been a blessing & came at the perfect time. Nothing can replace Daisy, but getting Apache back sure is easing the pain.

Oh, that's great you got him back. I always try when I sell mine to get a good home for them, but you can never know for one hundred percent. I've just been lucky so far. He's a gorgeous boy, who definitely needs some groceries, but he does look awfully happy...like he's come home Good going Jessica.

Yeah, he was supposed to go to this wonderful home & that is the reason he was sold to that man, plus the trainer claimed to have known his wife. After all the records come back in our name & he is with us a year. I am tracking down that past owner & giving them a peice of my mind.

Apache's ordeal getting back to you and the ones who love him reminds me of the story Black Beauty.
Hopefully he never went through as bad a situation as the horse in the story, but I am sure he is just as thrilled to be brought home again too.
He is a beauty,and your diligence paid off to get him back.
I am so happy for both of you!

That is exactly what my mom said, she said, you know Jess, this horse has been switched hands 5times now & he is just like Black Beauty! He was abused, he was hit in the head with a 2x4 , when we went to look at him the guy saw him hug me ( we didn't tell him this was OUR horse as we didn't want him upping the price or him to not tell the truth about his past, this wasn't the gentleman we sold him too, so he didn't know.) He was amazed as no one could even touch his head!

When we left that mans house on Monday night, I cried, how could anyone do such a thing to an animal? He is so skinny, his feet now have shoes as they were never trimmed and he stood on rocks, so the crack are almost to the coronary ( right where the hoof meets the leg)! My boy was in barb wire & had gotten his foot cut by it! He has just been through so much.This is the photo of my boy, that was posted on Craigslist

He is here to stay for sure. All he will know is love, this poor boy deserves nothing less! Thank you for your kind words.

first saw that picture of Apache on Craigs List....but leaped for joy knowing that you had found him again and could get him back.

That's wise decision to not tell the seller that he was originally your horse. Did you tell him after the deal was done to buy Apache back?

I'm with you in not understanding how people could do the cruel things that they do to any animal.

Just remember...what goes around...comes around!
The proof of that is shown in the love and trust that Apache gave to you immediately.
He knew that you would love him and not hurt him.

Maybe those people who hurt him will get what they gave!

i'm so glad that you got him back.. he's absolutely gorgeous and i'm sure he's one happy camper now too!

sounds like you could write a childrens book about Apache.. sort of like Black Beauty?

Yup, his life is surely a Black Beauty tail. Sad, but true. I cannot believe all my boy has been through. I try not to think about it, just think about the here and now, as he will only know love & kindness. Thank you for your kind words.

Looks like he is giving you horse hugs. What an ordeal he and you have been through. I think pintos and paints make some of the prettiest horses.

He has always given me hugs like that, even as a stallion. I think paints are awsome! I love all of ours. I need to post pictures of my filly we bought last year. She is a knock out now!
