A responsible breeder knows how important solid dogs are to a breeding program. I prefer solid to merle breedings. When I first started showing 9 years ago, not too many solid dogs were being shown in conformation. I think that has changed and there are now more solid dogs being shown and starting to champion.
Below is my solid black and tan boy, Gold River's Midnight. He has championed in NALC, ARBA (American Rare Breed Association), and Grand Championed in UKC. He is also an awesome working dog - is #4 in the Catahoula Hog Dog Association and just won High Point Male at the cow dog trials. I definitely am biased, but I love those solids!
And on top of all of that, he is just such a sweetheart! Here he is with Janeen.
