Hi Rue, congratulations on your new pup! Black Catahoulas are showing well these days, both in the working trials and conformation ring. There are those who want to sell lots of pretty spotted pups and charge less for the solid colored ones or even cull them, though I personally don't know any people who cull. That is unfortunate because the solid dogs are of exactly the same bloodlines, with all the same talents and intelligence as their leopard littermates. And with fewer of the genetic problems that go along with the pretty leopard coat and glass eyes. I can tell you that the pick of the litter from our last two litters were solid black females-- one with brindle trim and one with white toes and chest.
